Erica & Bruce: Married! | Miracle Valley | Delaplane, VA

Bruce is a man of huge integrity.  How do I know?  Because he had the balls to hit on Erica after she finished cleaning his teeth.  Yes, they met in her dentist’s office!

These two had a gorgeous wedding with their families and closest friends at Miracle Valley Vineyard out in Delaplane, Virginia.  The sun was just setting as we set out to do portraits, so we had to move fast, but Erica and Bruce really knocked it out of the park.  They even let me experiment a bit in the barrel room.

Bruce actually proposed to Erica right here at the vineyard.  How sweet is it to get married where you got engaged?

What is second shooting anyway?

You’ll see me talk about second shooting a lot on this blog.  Because I am constantly second shooting.  In fact, this season (so far and planned out through November), almost every single Saturday that I have not had my own wedding, I have been seconding.

So what is it?  Most of the time, photographers want to have a second photographer for weddings, particularly large weddings.  The second photographer is someone hired by the primary – the person the bride and groom paid to shoot their wedding – for a whole bunch of reasons:

  • Contingency. If the primary photographer trips and breaks her ankle, or both her camera bodies fail, the second photographer is there with a whole set of gear to step right up.

Luisa & Mike: Engaged! | Arlington County Fair

Luisa and Mike, as stated previously, are incredibly awesome.  And awesome people deserve awesome photo shoots, so we hit up the Arlington County Fair!  In my head, this fair was quite a bit more uh… robust than it turned out to be, but I think we rocked it anyway.  Luisa and Mike, you guys rule!

I hope you can’t tell that these were taken at the “piglet racing” area.

How incredibly perfect is this heart-shaped ride?  Obviously we had to do photos on it.

This is my first frame after they started moving.  I tried to get others but this was hands-down the best panning I did.  Go Mike go!
