Jenny & Edmund | Meadowlark Botanical Gardens intimate wedding | Vienna, Virginia

Jenny and Edmund were married on a hot, bright summer day at Meadowlark Botanical Gardens in Vienna, Virginia. After some careful engineering of gazebo decorations, the site was ready for these two to tie that knot. We wrapped portraits juuuuust as the rain started to come down.

Our heroes and some close friends came early to help change the gazebo from any-old gazebo to Jenny-and-Edmund’s gazebo.

It was, honestly, mad warm, so we hit some flowering trees and some quick boardwalks and bridges before ducking back inside the – phew – air-conditioned main lodge. Somehow these two managed to pull off a subtle glow, when I’m sure I looked like a sweaty mess.

We have the same problem with the sun here in Florida. Sometimes it is so hot that daytime pictures are just impossible :) At least you did not have those harsh shadows. Nice job tho! Congratulations to Jenny and Edmund!!!

Kelly & Mike | Washington DC photo shoot at the Lincoln Memorial with dogs

Kelly and Mike are blowing this joint soon, headed to the great state of Texas. But they love it here (because who wouldn’t?) so they wanted to capture a bit of the flavor of the town. Plus, fur babies. So we hit up a tiny local park you’ve never heard of and also one of the most visited sites in the entire country.

Dogs are fun.

We dropped off our canine pals at home, but stole a few quick snaps on Kelly and Mike’s adorable porch.

Lincoln time! (And aside: I normally try to dissuade people from shooting here because of the crowds, but as long as you don’t mind a bunch of tourists in your photos, it’s actually a really nice place to be – getting on towards sunset. Earlier it’s way way bright.)

Mara & Rich | Carlyle House wedding | Athenaeum | Old Town Alexandria

Mara and Rich were married at the always-beautiful Carlyle House in Old Town Alexandria and held a lovely reception at the Athenaeum, just a few blocks away. They brought all their friends and family for great food, fun music and more laughs than you can shake a stick at.

We started the day at Hotel Monaco Alexandria – a perennial favorite for its cool art and funky fabrics and such. Always fun to shoot there.

I love this photo of all of Mara’s ladies cracking up.

We stole a few minutes pre-ceremony to sneak down to the lobby and take some photos.

Then Mara soaked up some love from the street on the way to the Carlyle House.
