Sarah & Rob | Crystal City maternity session | Arlington

Sarah and Rob are having a baby and that’s rad. They live two steps from all these places we shot at in Crystal City – the kind of session I love doing – just wandering around their neighborhood. It’s especially nice to do for a maternity session, so baby-on-the-way can see where Mom and Dad hung out before they came along. Also, Crystal City is mad beautiful, if you take the time to look at it.

Their pup Maggie is going to have to give up some attention soon enough.

I kind of love the dog creeping on them.

Sarah & Patrick | Woodend Wedding | Chevy Chase

Sarah and Patrick had a really lovely and down-to-earth ceremony at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Silver Spring and then a beautiful reception with killer light at Woodend Nature Sanctuary – one of my favorite venues in the area. There were approximately eight thousand fireflies in attendance.

We started the day at the Hilton Garden Inn Silver Spring North with much makeup-ing and hair-ing and nail painting-ing.

Sarah and Patrick chose to do a first look in his parents’ lovely back yard.

Their church was very relaxed and welcoming.

And the pastor did a fantastic job.

Marriage accomplished, we headed over to Woodend for family pics, couple pics and much partying.

As always, I love Woodend’s wall of stuffed birds. I was determined to photograph Sarah in front of the birds, as I normally only get the groom up in there. The lady at the desk provided very excellent motivation.

Ana & Jon | Decatur House wedding | Washington, DC

Ana and Jon were married at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Georgetown, then held a super-classy reception at the remarkable Decatur House on Lafayette Square, complete with mariachis! They have such a wonderful laid-back vibe, except on the dance floor, where they really tear it up. I’m convinced they threw the whole party just so they could dance together all night – which, if you ask me, is a freakin’ amazing reason to have a wedding. Ana and Jon:

We started the day at the Residence Inn Arlington Courthouse. Ana’s grandmother is a little firecracker.

Big thanks to Angel for coming out to help with this wedding. I used a bunch of her images in this post. Too many. She was great.

Makeup done, dress on, we scooted to Holy Trinity Catholic Church to get these two hitched.

Loving Angel’s street-scene approach.
