Risa and Michael were married at the incredibly charming Arts Club of Washington – which is right downtown and you’ve probably passed it every day on your commute without knowing it’s there. Every time I shoot there, I get to work with new pieces and play with new colors and compositions – art galleries are really great places for wedding (photographers). Their day was calm, joyous and refined. Risa and Michael:
This recipe is adapted from Smitten Kitchen, where she takes prettier pictures in her light-filled and not a total disaster-area kitchen and also gives more of a damn. Things not to judge me about on this post: the dirtiness of my stove; the dirtiness and lack of put-away dishes on my counter; the fact that we had no paper towels on this day so I drained my fritters on a lunch bag. Things to tell me are so great about me and my cooking: I’m using a cast-iron to deep-fry things in; I made this shit from scratch; I used a paper bag to drain my fritters.
Natasha and Aaron made it official at the DC courthouse with their nearest and dearest – including a bunch flown halfway across the world with a little guy on his (first?) super-long plane ride. It was a freak cold day when it should have been beautiful, but we soldiered through and skipped our way down to the National Gallery of Art to keep everybody from freezing. But first, they had some marrying to do.
