Dana & Hal | Josephine Butler Parks Center wedding | Washington, DC

Dana and Hal were married in February, if you can believe it. For one glorious weekend, this oppressive winter we've been having lifted and granted them the most ridiculously beautiful day one could possibly hope for a DC winter wedding. The Josephine Butler Parks Center was a classy, bright yellow backdrop to their laughter-filled ceremony and rollicking reception. Meigh with Lula Mae did a great job putting it all together. Josephine-Butler-Park-Center-wedding-DC-13 We started the day at Meridian Manor Bed and Breakfast, an incredibly charming old house just a couple blocks down from the JBPC. Dana's tiny friends devoured the strawberries provided by Alison Harper & Co. (It's so cute that they do that!) Josephine-Butler-Park-Center-wedding-DC-1Josephine-Butler-Park-Center-wedding-DC-2Josephine-Butler-Park-Center-wedding-DC-3 I have to tell you, this mirror was making me so happy. Josephine-Butler-Park-Center-wedding-DC-4Josephine-Butler-Park-Center-wedding-DC-5Josephine-Butler-Park-Center-wedding-DC-6Josephine-Butler-Park-Center-wedding-DC-7 All prettied up, we got Dana over to the Josephine Butler Parks Center for a "first look" with Hal on the mansion's balcony. I just love each one of them. Josephine-Butler-Park-Center-wedding-DC-34Josephine-Butler-Park-Center-wedding-DC-36 Especially Hal already marveling at his ring. It was pretty awesome. Josephine-Butler-Park-Center-wedding-DC-66Josephine-Butler-Park-Center-wedding-DC-67 Congratulations, you guys! Yuliya & AJ | Arts Club of Washington wedding | Washington, DC

Yuliya and AJ were married at the always-colorful, always charming Arts Club of Washington. They flew in for less than a week (!) of visiting and last-minute things and pre-wedding stuff, before jetting back on a plane to Australia (where they live and work). They filled the Arts Club with one day of boundless laughter, a playful wedding party and, of course, shots. Yuliya and AJ: Arts-Club-of-Washington-wedding-photography-45 We started the day at the Hotel Lombardy, which I highly recommend to anyone having a wedding at the Arts Club - it's literally next door. Arts-Club-of-Washington-wedding-photography-1Arts-Club-of-Washington-wedding-photography-2 Yuliya wore a fabulous dress with a flouncy mermaid bottom (yes, I'm so suave with the dress name things). Arts-Club-of-Washington-wedding-photography-18 Don't you just love that perfect braid in her hair? Dana & Hal | National Mall engagement session

I'm going to let you in on a little secret, blog readers. I'd say a good 80% of the people I photograph tell me they are "not photogenic" or that they are awkward, particularly in front of cameras. Dana and Hal told me that. Yes, seriously, these two. I have to say they straight rocked out the fall colors on the National Mall. National-Mall-engagement-session-3 We met at the carousel on the Mall, where Hal proposed. (awww) National-Mall-engagement-session-1National-Mall-engagement-session-4National-Mall-engagement-session-5National-Mall-engagement-session-6National-Mall-engagement-session-7National-Mall-engagement-session-8 Some day, I'm going to use this darn sculpture to its full effect. It vexes me. So many angles, reflections, shadows... this is definitely my best attempt to date. National-Mall-engagement-session-9 It was crazy windy, so we hopped into the National Gallery for a few indoor photos. I don't know what is up with the National Gallery - they have walled off one of my favorite windows and taken down a number of pieces I used to use all the time. We had to scope out some new spots. National-Mall-engagement-session-10National-Mall-engagement-session-11National-Mall-engagement-session-12 Looking forward to doing it all over again in a few months!
