Clarendon Day – Burrito Eating Contest

The main event that got me up and out of the house to the Clarendon Day festival on Saturday (see below for full post) was the burrito-eating contest.  “View an eating contest” is one of my goals for 2010 and I’m happy to say that I checked that one off!

This contest started off relatively sane, but by the time 10 minutes were up, the leaders had downed more than two Chipotle-size burritos and one of them had transferred those burritos from his stomach into a trash can.  Good times.  These images are in order taken.

After this, I basically quit photographing everyone but this dude.  He was so expressive with his eating.

My favorite shot, so naturally I had to make it a dramatic black and white.  Look at him swan-dive into the best burrito of his life.

Okay, make that the worst burrito.  Just a few seconds after this photo was taken, this dude turned around in his chair and wretched all that burrito right into a garbage can.  Poor curly-haired guy next to him got up and started eating on the other end of the table – he gets major, major props for being able to carry on after getting barfed on!

Then it was all over!  The crowd goes wild!
