I married into the cutest twins on earth. George’s cousins dressed up as a monkey and a pig for Halloween and though they were cranky as all get-out due to *two* birthday parties on Sunday, they still managed to pull off the animal-lookalike bit very well. I think next year they’ll be waaaay into the candy-delivery system that is Halloween.
Okay no, not for my photography business. I’m included in the photo that will go out with a press release about the Burke & Herbert calendar I told you about. Pretty sure I shouldn’t be stealing the photo and posting it here, but you can see it and a couple of others from the quick shoot here. Less than a week later, and as I sit here typing this, I am wearing the same exact outfit. In the photo, I’m the third person from the left.
One of the things I love about photography is its ability to turn something ugly into something beautiful. Better said, perhaps, is that photography can isolate beauty in a subject. I don’t remember who said it or if I’m even paraphrasing correctly, but some photographer said that there is always a spectacular photo within 20 steps – you just have to find it. I love that an image of something that might be considered ugly can become “art”. This is most obvious in photographs of “urban decay” (we photographers love this stuff) but also something as simple as weeds.
