Julie & Brandon | Columbia Country Club wedding | Chevy Chase, Maryland

Julie and Brandon beat out threats of rain to have an elegant but boisterous wedding at Columbia Country Club. These two held a "small" ceremony with their enormous families, then invited all the folks to come have dinner and dancing and plenty of laughs. Plus, there were more cousins than you can shake a stick at. Olivia & Eric: Married! | La Ferme Restaurant | Chevy Chase

Two things about this wedding: 1) It was absolutely everything a wedding should be and nothing it shouldn't - filled with family, tears, great food, good music and love.  2) I asked Olivia to sit on a rock that wasn't sturdy.  She almost fell over and I almost ruined her dress and her response was "thankfully I have strong quads."  That is to say, this intimate, lovely wedding was really a treat to photograph.  Plus, look at these two. red brick wedding photography Olivia's very talented friend made this bouquet of hydrangeas with flowers from Whole Foods! hydrangea bouquet wedding rings with polka dots Their ceremony and reception was held at the very quaint La Ferme restaurant in Chevy Chase, MD.  The restaurant really did a good job in creating a special atmosphere for Olivia and Eric and their guests.  The food looked pretty good too. parents of the bride walking her to altar olivia and eric with officiant la ferme restaurant wedding groom during the ceremony at la ferme restaurant teary-eyed bride photos from wedding ceremony negative space wedding ceremony photograph I'd heard of this, but never seen it before.  Olivia and Eric incorporated a "ring warming" ceremony into their program.  Everyone at the wedding held the rings for a minute and meditated just a second on happiness and health for the couple. mom during ring-warming ceremony wedding rings ceremony images from la ferme restaurant wedding groom smiles during wedding ceremony at la ferme first kiss Married! bride and groom are husband and wife Gosh these two were a joy to work with.  We ended up having plenty of time to do portraits around the restaurant and on the next block over.  And do I need to gush over how beautiful Olivia is?  Probably overkill. bride and groom under the trellis at la ferme restaurant bride and groom portraits in chevy chase, md black and white with eyes closed bridal portrait bride and groom from above wedding photographer Amber Wilkie bride and groom wedding photography gorgeous bride with red brick backdrop beautiful bride with red brick The upstairs part of the restaurant had this awesome little French country bench thing going on so of course we had to wrap up our portraits there. bride and groom on french couch Love. bride and groom on french couch upstairs at la ferme the bride with all her ladies group hug for the bride rooster at la ferme restaurant in chevy chase la ferme restaurant details It's too much cute - I can't take it! kids in heart sunglasses at wedding la ferme desserts la ferme restaurant from balcony kids at wedding reception at la ferme la ferme restaurant in chevy chase Congratulations you guys!!

Caroline & David: Married! | Woodend Nature Sanctuary

Probably five minutes after I arrived at Woodend Nature Sanctuary to help photograph Caroline and David's wedding with the fabulous Tara Welch, I decided that it was my favorite venue in DC.  You'll see shortly that the guys' getting-ready room features an entire wall (actually three walls) of taxidermied birds.  How weird!  How wonderful!  And then I met Caroline and David. wedding photographer Amber Wilkie These two radiated passion.  You know how when you're with two people that are so madly in love you can almost feel it coming off them and it's maybe a little embarrassing to be so close to them kissing because they are obviously really into it?  That and they did some awesome Latin dancing.  It was hot up in there, folks.  But first, the dead birds. woodend nature sanctuary and deer woodend nature sanctuary groomsmen with the taxidermied birds groom tying his tie father of the bride in the woodend library One of David's groomsmen bought him this impressive-ass Johnny Walker Blue Label King George V scotch.  They were throwing around all kinds of crazy talk like this bottle of alcohol cost hundreds of dollars.  Quite a fancy gift, right?  It came in a big blue box with accoutrements. super expensive whiskey whiskey on a bookshelf at woodend I love the hell out of this shot of David.  Isn't he dapper? groom at the library at woodend nature sanctuary deer at woodend nature sanctuary in chevy chase, md It threatened to rain while they were getting ready but they decided to go for the ceremony in the grove and I'm soooo glad they did.  This was an amazing setting for a wedding ceremony.  The trees lining the grove were too cool. wedding ceremony in the grove at woodend And they had deer behind them while they said their vows.  How much more magical could a wedding possibly get? musician and deer at woodend grove bride and father coming down the aisle at woodend hanging glass at wedding reception wedding ceremony in the woodend grove caroline and david are officially married!
