Jenny & Edmund | Georgetown engagement photography | Washington, DC

Jenny and Edmund are getting married next month at the serene and lovely Meadowlark Gardens. But for their engagement session, we wanted to take it to Georgetown to get a city vibe. We were "rained out" (and by rained out, of course I mean the weather turned totally beautiful that evening after dire predictions all week), so a freak cell that popped up as we headed into the city scared us a bit - but it cleared right up just as they arrived. The sun even came out some to play. © 2015 Amber Wilkie Photography | www.amberwilkie.com© 2015 Amber Wilkie Photography | www.amberwilkie.com I really enjoy working in Georgetown. It's got such variety - Key Bridge, canals, graffiti, cutesy cobblestone streets and adorable little alleyways and houses. best-georgetown-engagement-photographers-2© 2015 Amber Wilkie Photography | www.amberwilkie.com© 2015 Amber Wilkie Photography | www.amberwilkie.com© 2015 Amber Wilkie Photography | www.amberwilkie.com© 2015 Amber Wilkie Photography | www.amberwilkie.combest-georgetown-engagement-photographers-9 Jenny told me she learned English partially by watching How I Met Your Mother - hence the yellow umbrella. The more I thought about it, the more difficult that seems - the show is all puns! Some people are cut out for this learning-other-languages thing. © 2015 Amber Wilkie Photography | www.amberwilkie.com Congratulations guys!

Jackie & Mike | Dinosaur Land engagement photos | White Post, Virginia

Children, never give up on your dreams because you never know when they might come true. One of mine did recently: photograph an engagement session at Dinosaur Land. Jackie wrote me asking if I might "be interested" in photographing her and Mike at the prehistoric forest way out in the country, filled with awesomely campy giant fiberglass dinosaurs from the 60s. Um, shit yes I was. So we made it happen. And it was glorious. © 2015 Amber Wilkie Photography | www.amberwilkie.com Nothing says love quite like a giant bug-eyed octopus. © 2015 Amber Wilkie Photography | www.amberwilkie.com Ok, not gonna lie. This shoot was actually really challenging. It was hard to avoid cheese. So we just pretty much went full-on dorktastic. It was mega-fun. © 2015 Amber Wilkie Photography | www.amberwilkie.com And a few nice ones, gotta do it. Eliza & Erick | Georgetown engagement session | Washington, DC

This Spring weather has been rough on scheduling. The worst part is it doesn't even rain when they say it will. Promised but undelivered rain is what got Eliza, Erick and I up way early in Georgetown. It was a Sunday morning and we had the whole place to ourselves - creepy, empty M Street with parking as far as the eye can see. Fortunately, Erick thought my "photo voice" was hi-lar-ious so we had a good old time. I even made them frolic. © 2015 Amber Wilkie Photography | www.amberwilkie.com (Yeah! We got up early enough that there weren't any cars parked in front of the flower mural!) © 2015 Amber Wilkie Photography | www.amberwilkie.comGeorgetown-engagement-photos-washington-dc-2 The kayak people were so nice - even opened the gate for us to take photos by the bridge and with the colorful kayaks. © 2015 Amber Wilkie Photography | www.amberwilkie.com I have the best clients. Georgetown-engagement-photos-washington-dc-5 Georgetown is really quite alright. Lots of pretty stuff (basically none of which I am showing on the blog today) and then graffiti, underpasses, weird street scenes - it's a great place to shoot.) © 2015 Amber Wilkie Photography | www.amberwilkie.com© 2015 Amber Wilkie Photography | www.amberwilkie.com© 2015 Amber Wilkie Photography | www.amberwilkie.comGeorgetown-engagement-photos-washington-dc-11 I photoshopped a rat trap out of this image. © 2015 Amber Wilkie Photography | www.amberwilkie.com You'll see more of these two on the blog in fancier dress later this year. © 2015 Amber Wilkie Photography | www.amberwilkie.com Congratulations, you guys!
