Anju & Brian | Dulles Marriott wedding

Anju and Brian couldn't constrain their awesome to just one wedding ceremony, so they had two.  In the morning, in the beautiful (but yes, very warm!) May sunshine, they held an Indian wedding with lots of vibrant reds and golds and tons of laughter.  And that night, everyone regrouped for a Western ceremony and more dancing than you can shake a stick at.  It was rad. photojournalism at indian wedding ceremony Whenever I show Indian weddings to Western couples, they always say "oh, the colors!"  It's kind of a funny on-command thing.  But, obviously, "oh, the colors!" bright red and yellow bouquet and indian wedding decorations mother of the groom shows her henna mother of bride during the indian wedding ceremony mother of the bride and bride during indian wedding outdoor indian wedding ceremony bride and her nephew at the indian wedding ceremony groom at indian wedding ceremony indian wedding ceremony rituals Big big thanks to Marcella for coming out to help with this one.  Below is hers and I've got a handful of others scattered in here.  Anju and Brian had the exact same idea on either side of the cloth and ambushed each other with rice when it was lowered. playing around at the dulles airport marriott wedding Anju has one of the all-time best laughs. laughing at the indian wedding ceremony bride and groom indian wedding nephew gives a kiss at the indian wedding ceremony tying the thali at the indian wedding  happy indian wedding ceremony moment parents of groom during the indian wedding ceremony walking around the indian wedding ceremony grandmother throws rice during indian wedding ceremony sisters participate in indian wedding ceremony bride and groom introduced at indian wedding ceremony mom hugs her daughter during family portraits The Dulles Airport Marriott may be right next to the airport, but they have a lovely little tree and pond area for portraits.  Middle of the woods, right? indian wedding photographer Amber Wilkie bride and groom portraits for indian wedding beautiful indian bride We had a nice break for lunch, during which Anju and Brian were hard at work finishing things up for the ceremony.  We rejoined them as they got ready for Part 2. little boy reads Pooh book during wedding mother of the bride watches her get dressed Indian and Western wedding at dulles airport marriott bride and groom portraits at dulles airport marriott feeding each other cake at the wedding reception Shot below is Marcellas - love it! beautiful first dance shot at dulles airport marriott dancing with kids at wedding reception DJ Wes spun the mad beats. dancing at the dulles airport marriott wedding little boy at the wedding reception break dancing during the wedding reception Towards the end of the night, Anju stole my camera. bride takes the photographer's camera But she gave it back. happy bride at wedding reception super-hip cats at wedding reception little boy dancing at the dulles airport marriott wedding bride and groom dancing during their wedding reception Congratulations, you guys! Suee & Tad | St. Francis Hall wedding | Washington, DC

Suee & Tad were married at the really spectacularly beautiful Franciscan Monastery.  And their tables were differentiated by fruits!  But really, the very best part was their first dance, which they did to none other than 'Power of Love' by Huey Lewis and the News.  Yes, my friends, best first dance song ever.  Add a kickin' band, incredibly sweet families and a classy location and you've got a pretty great wedding. bride and groom dancing at st. francis hall Suee & Tad got ready at their house in Washington, DC.  They remodeled it themselves and it's gorgeous. mom irons her son's shirt for the wedding indian wedding preparation getting ready for the indian wedding mom fixes her daughters sari mom and daughter moment before the wedding sister and friend help bride get dressed brother of the bride looks out the window Suee's twin sister helped her get ready. twin sisters get ready for the wedding indian bride getting ready first look with indian bride I normally don't futz around too much with the bouquet but I loved the play of the orange against the blue/green leaves I found outside the hall. wedding bouquet with orange lilies indian bride portrait Bride and groom portraits on the grounds of the beautiful Franciscan Monastery, across the street from the hall. bride and groom portraits at franciscan monastery bride and groom photos at indian wedding wedding at franciscan monastery  bride walking down the aisle at st. francis hall indian wedding at st. francis hall  indian wedding ceremony at st. francis hall, washington dc indian wedding in washington, dc indian wedding ceremony at st. francis hall throwing flowers during indian wedding ceremony bride and groom laughing during indian wedding ceremony mother of the bride praying during wedding ceremony bride and groom during wedding ceremony bride and groom during wedding ceremony in washington, dc bride and groom recessional at st. francis hall candid portraits with grandmother of the groom Suee and Tad had major decoration win at this wedding.  Each table had a different fruit and the escort cards directed guests to their tables by "grape" or "pomegranate" or "strawberry", etc.  I love this idea! wedding reception at st. francis hall fruit table decorations at wedding reception Big thanks to Jessica Shepard for coming out to help me with this wedding.  The photo on the right below is hers. wedding reception setup at st. francis hall family watching slideshow at wedding mother/son and father/daughter dances at st. francis hall dancing at st. francis hall wedding dancing with grandmother at washington, dc indian wedding The next two are Jessica's - I love Mom laughing! dancing at st. francis hall wedding reception mom and friend laughing at st. francis hall indian wedding sister of the bride dancing at st. francis hall st. francis hall wedding reception mother and father of the groom dancing at wedding reception The last image in my camera at the end of the night.  Hilarious. last image of the night at wedding reception Suee & Tad's vendor team: Coordinator: Ashlee Virginia Events Photography: me! Pamela & James | Washington DC wedding

Pamela and James... by far my silliest couple to date.  This wedding was really fantastic - held in Pamela and James' home and the home of their friend and neighbor, the talented designer Andrew Law, Pamela and James treated their guests to a lovely outdoor ceremony and a rockin' kick-ass party.  Nope, those two are super compatible, as I witnessed.  In addition, Pamela and James have two of the cutest, sweetest, most polite little boys I may have ever met.  I even got a hug from big P at the end of the night! wedding portraits in washington dc Pamela got ready inside Andrew's house.  It was fun to play with the doorframes and angles.  Also because there were little people running around everywhere. bride gets ready at home  black and white bride getting ready images little boys getting ready for the wedding bride pins a boutonniere on her son bride gets her hair done before the wedding Pamela's gorgeous bouquet.  I believe those are anemones, but my flower IQ is about 4. wedding bouquet with anenomes sapphire wedding ring washington dc wedding ceremony little boys at a washington dc wedding ceremony During the ring exchange, P and H were hanging onstage with Pamela and James.  She got his ring on, but halfway through him putting on hers, H threw his arms around mom.  It was pretty seriously cute. little boy hugs mom during ring exchange washington dc backyard wedding ceremony washington dc wedding photography Toldja they were silly. hilarious wedding photography Big thanks to Porter for coming out to shoot this one with me.  How could I not post this? little boy gets hit by a lizard at a wedding  bride and groom rocking out during first dance Porter's.  Love it. bride dancing during wedding reception in washington, dc washington dc wedding reception everyone having fun at the backyard wedding reception dancing at the wedding reception And these next two are also Porter's.  Good times! having a rockin' good time at the dance party dancing together at the wedding reception washington dc wedding reception little boy sleeping in grass at the wedding reception washington dc wedding photography conga line at the wedding reception in washington dc crazy awesome wedding reception dance party washington dc wedding photographer washington dc wedding photographer Congratulations you guys!
