Melissa and John were married at the lovely Museum London, which is in a whole other country: Canada! This was the first time I’d shot a wedding outside of the states and it was a fine experience. I had Tim Hortons and paid with weird plasticy money and can confirm that Canadians are bizarrely, delightfully friendly and polite. But before I did any of that, I photographed Melissa and John’s wedding.

For all big events I photograph, I send out a day-of questionnaire with things like “which family formal groupings do you want?” and “who is your caterer?” Here’s an excerpt from Brooke and Dan’s questionnaire, in the list-your-vendors section: “Videographer? nope. Florist? nope. Any other decoration people? nope. Hair and makeup? nope. Other vendors? nope.” My kinda people. They tied the knot on a spectacular late-summer day at URJ Kutz Camp, where Dan went as a kid.

Rachel and Dane have an incredible amount of personal style and they’re not afraid to share it with the world. I think I’m allowed to call this a gamer wedding – they rolled for advantage in saying their vows, after all. They live in Lynchburg but have friends and family from all over, so it was quite the meeting of worlds down there in Virginia (does NOVA realllly count as Virginia? Probably not.) Rachel and Dane:
